Please enable pop-ups in order to view core and well results!

Core Locator is an interactive map-based search engine that is under development by PTTC Rocky Mountain Region. The project gives access to 256,817 cores from 30 states. Cores are referenced from several large collections, including those of the BEG, the USGS, and the Illinois, Kansas, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Utah Geological Surveys. If you would like to add your library listing to this map index (free of charge,) contact Mary Carr

To use the Core Locator, first choose the data you want displayed by clicking the appropriate button or buttons on the left column. Choose zoom in or out by clicking the button on in the right hand column. The zoom factor default is 2 but it can be changed by entering a number in the window above the zoom buttons. Zoom in or out by clicking on the map, the map will automatically center and zoom to the mouse position.

When you have zoomed to your area of interest, click the query button on the bottom of the right column and click on the core hole you are interested in. Data about the well will appear in a popup window. The data include API number of the well, operator, date drilled, latitude and longitude of the well and location the core resides. (Please note; Core Locator uses popups to display data and popups must be enabled for search data to be displayed.)
