Futures in Energy - Sponsors         return to main futures page

We are pleased to report that last year's Futures in Energy program was a solid success!  This year we are striving to make it even better!

Futures in Energy is a unique oil and gas industry outreach program that offers training in oil and gas technology for motivated high school science teachers and talented high school juniors and seniors from Denver and other Rocky Mountain communities. Our goal is to generate interest among students in the career opportunities in our industry as well as a better informed public.

  • The program will be held June 22-26, 2009, at Pinedale High School, Pinedale, Wyoming. This is open to students outside of Colorado only.

  • The program will be held June 15-20, 2009, on-campus at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. This is open only to Colorado students.

The Denver Earth Science Project provides excellent material for program. Following the training course, teachers will be given a kit of instructional materials so that they may effectively teach up to a six week module on oil and gas technology to high school students. Since each teacher can expose oil and gas exploration and production technology to a number of students each year, the teacher participation produces a "multiplier" of outreach. Selected students in the program will complete a four week paid internship with a local energy company in their community.

We Need Your Help

PTTC is seeking sponsors for this outreach effort. We are asking Rocky Mountain energy companies to share the cost of sponsoring one or more teachers and /or students. We further ask those companies to consider utilizing one of these talented students as an intern for a few weeks this summer. This outreach help is a "win" for the company sponsors, it's a win for our Industry, and most certainly a win for the student who gains first hand insight towards a possible career path. The cost of the five day training program for each of the teachers is $1000 (includes a teaching kit valued at $400.) The cost of the training program for each of the high school students averages $750 and includes room and board.

Your support will be prominently displayed in promotional materials as well as the training course manual.  Donations are tax-deductible.
