This case study comprises a database of quality core photographs from the Red River Formation located in the southwestern portion of the Williston Basin; from Bowman county, North Dakota and Harding county, South Dakota. The data was compiled by Mark A. Sippel. In addition to the data presented here, high-resolution images, descriptions, electrical-log LAS files and porosity-permeability data are compiled on CD-ROM.
The following report is separated into three sections. The first section deals with the Petrological Characterizations of the Upper Red River in the Williston Basin. The second section deals with the Petrographic Analysis of Ordovician Red River B Zone from Western Bowman County. The third section is a collection of core photographs, maps, and core descriptions from the Red River Formation. The second section contains the primary study data plus additional data on wells that also have had conventional porosity-permeability reports written on them. This additional porosity-permeability data is available on CD-ROM only. The CD-ROMs related to this case study are available on request for a nominal fee from the Rocky Mountain PTTC.
