Objectives

Seminar and Demonstration

The objective of this presentation is to familiarize operators with a technology that has specific application to the Tensleep, Madison, Phosphoria, and Embar reservoirs in Wyoming. It is designed around an actual water shut-off project at the Rocky Mountain Oilfield Testing Center, so that participants can learn about the technology, how to successfully apply it, and the types of problems encountered during actual field operations. Participants should come away from this experience feeling comfortable evaluating their own wells as potential treatment candidates, and designing and executing a treatment, if the treatment is appropriate.

Project

The objective of this project is to determine the feasibility of polymer gel technology to increase the recoverable reserves from the Tensleep reservoir. Specifically, this would be accomplished by:

  • Reducing water production from Tensleep producers and the well operating cost.
  • Increasing the draw down on Tensleep producers and increasing oil production and remaining recoverable reserves.
  • Enabling uneconomic producers to be returned to production.

If the treatment is found to be applicable in the Tensleep reservoir, a candidate well will be selected and an appropriate treatment will be designed for the well.
